Poem #38 – To Let Them Go

You watch our plain white walls
For a sign of life
Dare not climb free
Waiting here with me

Keep your head down
And you will see through
But to stay here
Is to drown in fear

The light, it burns for you
Too distant from
Your stunting gaze
Farther with the passing days

Is it enough?
If i tell you to run
That you are better off
Chasing the light alone

Is it fair?
That i asked you to stay
When i know my path
Keeps you from yours
