Poem #41 – Peace

Rest beneath the red sky
Lay in the deep grass

Close your tired eyes
And empty your mind
Of days and nights
Set in anger

Let your shallow frame
Sink down where you lay
Alone at last
In this crowded plain

Rest Beneath
The greying clouds
As you feel the first drop
Of the evening rain

Picture yourself
As you are now
Save this moment
For tomorrow’s pain

Surrounded as you are
By flowers so rare
By life anew
In everlasting view

The fading light
Of the autumn eve
The dawning sun
Of lasting reprieve
